FISHING CAT
Felis viverrinus
This little critter hides out at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. Lucky for me on this trip there it was, face out in the log instead of the usual other way around. Although it is a cat, the Latin name implies a similarity to the Viverrids, or Civets in the long body and short legged profile.
Lives in Southeast Asia and Indonesia and feeds on a diet of primarily aquatic prey, though it is not particularly suited for catching slippery things.
