TRINIDAD MEMORIAL LIGHTHOUSE

Will the real Trinidad Head Light please stand up. One is actually a memorial located in the town of Trinidad, Ca. overlooking the little harbor there. The real lighthouse is on the other side of the finger of land jutting out in the picture below. I drove over there and found the trail that led to a point above the cliffside perch of the real Trinidad Head Light. I had to balance on these sawed-off tree stumps and using a 400mm lens attachment on my digital camera, I was able to get a shot of the light flashing, but only of the top part of the lantern. Someone told me that the Coast Guard opens the site once a year to visitors. I tried bushwhacking to get a closer shot but it proved a meaningless effort. Another route only succeeded in making a large dog bark really loud. Well, the hike was fun with a great view of the coast.
