LIGHTSHIP FALSTERBOREV

Nieuwpoort, Belgium

 

So I am driving around Nieuwpoort looking for a way to get over to the area where I believe the lighthouse is and I reach a place where I figure I need to turn around. And there right off the main road is this lightship. It is called Lightship Falsterborev, for the reef it anchored on off the southwest corner of Sweden. The area was very deserted and the lightship appeared neglected. There was a gangway up to the boat that was not roped off, no Keep Off signs, nada. I still didn't go on it. I'd probably have fallen through the deck. There was only this perspective, I was going to go to the other side of the canal, but another boat is actually moored along side it and blocked most of the hull. And lest I forget to mention, it was raining.
